Speech Therapist

Overview

PRN/Part Time/Full Time — We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech Therapist to join our team at our skilled nursing facility in Topeka. In this role, you will provide comprehensive speech, language, and swallowing therapy to our residents to improve their communication abilities and quality of life. Responsibilities

• Direct all aspects of quality patient care, including evaluation and treatment, treatment planning, goal setting, family education, and documentation according to company guidelines, professional standards, and community needs.
• Provide professional treatment using therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with speech, language, hearing, oral motor, swallowing, and cognitive disorders.
• Plan activities and provide therapeutic services for speech and language disorders.
• Serve as a patient and rehabilitation advocate; participate in quality assurance and customer service activities.
• Perform patient evaluations and develop treatment plans, including short-term and long-term goals, consistent with physician orders and the patient’s overall medical condition.
• Carry out patient care plans or portions thereof, determining appropriate progression within the established care plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university.
• Current state licensure in the state of practice.
• Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred.
• Effective communication skills to maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers, government agencies, and the community.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
