As a Circulating Operating Room nurse, you will provide nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care circulating in the operating room. This position requires a minimum of 1 year circulating nurse experience (pediatric preferred), or Periop 101 training, with a passion to work in a state-of-the-art community hospital surgery department. The role focuses on family-centered care for the pediatric population. Specialty areas include general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, ENT, and GI. New grads will not be considered. This position collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, and family to promote health through delivery of professional nursing care in accordance with evidence-based standards, hospital goals, values, and regulatory standards. Position Duties Completes nursing assessment of patient conditions consistent with age and condition, including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors, to determine initial level of compliance with the treatment plan per policy and unit guidelines. Performs ongoing patient and family assessments and identifies variations from diagnoses. Continually evaluates patient responses to care, teaching, and discharge plans. Documents patient progress in appropriate charts and shares observations with the healthcare team and families to ensure timely communication and understanding of patient health status and ongoing needs. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with medication, storage, and documentation standards, regulations, and requirements. Provides orientation to the unit, hospital systems, and processes to patients and family members to ensure familiarity with unit policies and requirements. Supervises patient care activities of assigned team members and delegates activities appropriate to knowledge, skill, and competency. Provides timely feedback and review of care delivery to maintain patient safety, infection control, therapeutic environment, and team performance with confidentiality as appropriate. Works collaboratively with the patient care team and family members to establish and implement the plan of care, coordinating activities and communicating patient health status. Participates in patient care rounds and conferences as appropriate. Fosters a positive learning environment by modeling best practices and patient-centered care, providing guidance, training, and support to students and new employees through mentorship and clinical instruction. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested. Position Qualifications Education Two year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four year degree (BSN) in nursing, or a Diploma Nursing degree. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program (required). Additional Requirements Current State of Arizona RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges, or the ability to establish licensure according to Arizona law prior to start date. Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association prior to start date.
