Posting Note: East Valley Surgery Center is a small outpatient surgery center with a close-knit clinical team. We have two ORs and 1 Procedure Room. Specialties include ENT, Ortho, Endoscopy, Ophthalmology, Urology, General Surgery, and Gynecology. The position is for a PRN OR RN Circulator, working one 8–10 hour shift per week on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The center is closed on Tuesdays, Fridays, and weekends/holidays. Our daily case load is highly variable so the role requires flexibility with hours and may be cancelled if not needed. Minimum of one year operating room experience and Periop 101 training are required. New graduates are not considered. This role collaborates with the healthcare team, patients, and families to coordinate and promote patient health using evidence-based practice across the care continuum. The RN advocates for patients and families within nursing and medical plans of care, regulatory standards, and organizational values. Position Duties Utilizes multiple platforms to complete a nursing assessment of patients and families consistent with age and condition, including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors. Synthesizes and analyzes data to determine nursing diagnoses, prioritize needs, and develop a nursing plan of care. Implements plans of care in accordance with regulatory and organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provides health education related to health promotion and the management of acute and chronic conditions, including skills to maintain and restore health. Coordinates care and manages transitions within the organization and community, working collaboratively with the healthcare team, patient, and family to promote positive outcomes and prevent complications. Advocates for patients and families, offering support and guidance related to navigating ambulatory services and processes, resource management, and community-based services. Partners with patients and families to establish realistic goals and expectations. Continually evaluates patient understanding and response to the plan of care. Shares observations and assessment outcomes with the healthcare team, patient, and family to ensure timely communication and understanding of health status, progress, and ongoing needs. Modifies nursing diagnoses and plan of care based on re-evaluation. Documents in the medical record. Facilitates the delivery of safe patient care, monitoring quality and regulatory indicators, and working with leaders to identify process improvement opportunities. Supervises patient care activities of assigned team members and delegates activities appropriate to knowledge, skill, and competency. Provides timely feedback and review of care delivery to ensure maintenance of patient safety, infection control procedures, therapeutic environment, and team member performance level, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate. Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with all applicable medication, storage, and documentation standards, regulations, and requirements. Fosters a positive learning environment by modeling best practices and patient-centered care while providing guidance, training, and support to students and new employees through mentorship, clinical instruction, and knowledge sharing. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested. Position Qualifications Education Two year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four year (BSN) degree in nursing, or a Diploma Nursing degree. Required Bachelor's degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program. Preferred Experience Pediatric experience. Preferred Additional Requirements Current State of Arizona RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges or the ability to establish licensure per Arizona law prior to start date. Required Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association. Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification may be required within 90 days of entry into the position for select departments.
