APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company in Harrisonburg, VA looking to add a Baker their already amazing team.  Their primary responsibility will be to prepare high-quality baked goods that meet established recipes, dietary requirements, and food safety standards while supporting exceptional dining experiences for residents and guests.  Keep reading for more details!

What your day will look like:

• Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries, desserts, and other baked goods following standardized recipes and production schedules.
• Modify recipes as needed to accommodate therapeutic, allergen-restricted, diabetic-friendly, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets.
• Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients using proper baking techniques and commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ensure consistent product quality, proper portioning, and appealing presentation.
• Monitor baking times and oven temperatures to maintain quality, food safety, and consistency.
• Label, date, and store baked goods and ingredients according to food safety and sanitation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bakery work area, equipment, and utensils in compliance with health and infection control regulations.
• Complete assigned cleaning duties and follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Receive, inspect, and properly store food and supplies; report inventory shortages, equipment issues, and maintenance needs promptly.
• Comply with all federal, state, local, and facility policies, including food safety, emergency preparedness, and disaster response procedures.
• Support the Culinary Services team by performing additional duties and special projects as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• Previous baking experience required; experience in healthcare, senior living, or hospitality is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Culinary Arts or Baking/Pastry certification or degree is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of therapeutic, special dietary, and texture-modified food preparation is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality baked goods.
• ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred
