APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company in Harrisonburg, VA looking to add a Lead Baker to their already amazing team.  Their primary responsibility will be to prepare, bake, and present high-quality breads, pastries and desserts while maintaining food safety standards and efficient bakery operations.  Keep reading for more details!

What your day will look like:

• Prepare, bake, and finish a variety of fresh breads, pastries, desserts, and other bakery items according to recipes and production schedules.
• Create and introduce new baked goods and seasonal menu selections as needed.
• Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients using proper baking techniques and commercial kitchen equipment.
• Decorate and garnish baked goods to ensure an attractive, high-quality presentation.
• Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, frostings, whipped toppings, and other bakery components.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels and ensure all products are properly labeled, stored, and refrigerated.
• Reduce food waste by practicing proper inventory rotation, utilizing excess products when appropriate, and managing ingredient usage efficiently.
• Prepare and stage baked goods for service, events, or distribution to designated locations.
• Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, workstations, ovens, mixers, refrigerators, freezers, and surrounding work areas while following all food safety and sanitation standards.

What we are looking for:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 2+ years of professional baking experience.
• ServSafe certified or obtained within the first 3 months of employment.
• Experience safely operating commercial bakery and foodservice equipment.
• Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude with a high level of energy and attention to detail.
