NICU Registered Nurse - Bessemer, AL

Seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on a contract basis. As part of a dedicated team caring for neonates, you will deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in a dynamic environment with a 32-bed capacity. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, using advanced equipment and the Cerner EMR system to support optimal patient outcomes.


Schedule and Hours:

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Nights), 18:45 - 07:15
• 36 hours guaranteed weekly
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call time

• Current, unrestricted RN license
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in an acute NICU setting
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• Comfortable floating within appropriate scope of practice, including to nearby facilities within 25 miles as needed
• Experience with Cerner EMR (preferred)
• Comfortable working in a 3:1 patient ratio
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adaptable to the fast-paced and sensitive NICU environment

• Provide direct, family-centered care to neonates requiring intensive monitoring and intervention
• Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and operate NICU-specific equipment
• Work collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other unit staff
• Adhere to facility protocols, medication safety standards, and documentation best practices
• Float to other units within licensure and expertise when required

• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs; only natural nails, no gel, acrylic, or embellished nails permitted
• Work with multidisciplinary professionals committed to the care of vulnerable infants
