The Clinical Supervisor assures delivery of safe, high-quality and cost-effective care provided by competent co-workers. They ensure efficient utilization of available resources to meet productivity and financial goals. Clinical Supervisor works collaboratively and effectively with other administrative personnel, physicians and co-workers to communicate and improve processes across the continuum. Clinical Supervisor ensures units are appropriately staffed to provide patient care. Clinical Supervisor is proactively involved in patient flow and bed management issues in collaboration with the Staffing Office. They are leaders who inspire a shared vision, demonstrating the value of change and presenting it to co-workers with enthusiasm. Clinical Supervisor models the way by displaying professional standards, a positive attitude, and engaging co-workers to become leaders of change. They challenge current process and enable others to promote change by providing support, mentorship, and guidance to those who provide direct patient care. Clinical Supervisor holds direct and indirect care providers accountable for their professional responsibilities and adherence to policy and regulatory guidelines. Job Description

Medical Progressive Care Unit

Night Shift Supervisor

• Coordinates placement of patients and staff assignments. 
• Assists clinical staff with patient care and unit activities.
• Facilitates staff nurse attendance at meetings. 
• Interfaces with medical staff, patients' family members, department heads and other personnel as necessary.
• Participates in planning and performance of educational training and orientation of unit staff, advises staff on procedures and policies.
• Participates in unit quality improvement activities. 
• Supervises clinical activities.
• Directs staff and responds to unanticipated and sudden changes in individual patient's condition. 
• Participates in the supervision of unit operations. 
• Collaborates with the manager in the development and control of department budget, assuring accuracy of time and attendance records and resource utilization.
• Performs duties of staff nurse, as needed, due to acuity level of department census.
• Maintains adequate inventory, orders various supplies. Ensures proper maintenance of overall physical environment and equipment in area of responsibility.
• Participated in Nursing and Medical Center committees as assigned. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Education: Graduate from an accredited Nursing program.
Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Physical requirements/demands:

- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.

- Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.

- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
Experience: 3-5 years of hospital nursing experience.
Certifications:

- Basic Life Support certification or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

One or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe:

- ACLS/ALS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

- CPHON (Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurses)

- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)

- BLS (Basic Life Support)

- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)

- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules

- C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)

- Other unit-specific certifications as required.

Other:
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Preferred Licensure:
Preferred Experience: Management experience.
Preferred Certifications: Nursing Specialty Certification.
Preferred Other: Change Management.
