6-Month Contract | Onsite | Fremont, CA

Nidec Genmark Automation is seeking an experienced Senior Production Planner / Master Scheduler with manufacturing cost analysis experience for a 6-month contract assignment covering an employee leave.

This position will be responsible for maintaining the master production schedule, running and reviewing MRP requirements, coordinating material and production priorities, and supporting manufacturing cost and inventory analysis.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment , strong ERP/MRP knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work effectively across Production, Procurement, Engineering, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities

Master Scheduling & Production Planning

• Develop, maintain, and adjust the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on customer demand, material availability, capacity, and production priorities.
• Run and review MRP requirements and ensure production and material plans remain aligned.
• Monitor open and past-due production/work orders and resolve scheduling issues.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Buyers, and Manufacturing to ensure materials and kits are available for production.
• Adjust schedules when business requirements, material availability, or production priorities change.
• Support engineering changes and ECO material disposition.
• Coordinate prototype and NPI build schedules with Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Maintain production/work-order information and planning data in the ERP/MRP system.
• Prepare weekly scheduling, production, inventory, and performance reports.
• Support month-end activities related to production and inventory.

Cost & Inventory Analysis

• Maintain and review standard material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Support standard cost updates and cost rollups.
• Analyze inventory valuation and changes resulting from cost rollups.
• Review slow-moving and obsolete inventory and support reserve analysis.
• Analyze material, labor, and manufacturing overhead variances.
• Investigate significant manufacturing cost variances and identify root causes.
• Support product margin and manufacturing cost analysis.
• Work closely with Finance, Procurement, and Manufacturing to improve cost accuracy and inventory management.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of production planning, master scheduling, supply chain planning, or related manufacturing experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with MRP and Master Production Scheduling (MPS) .
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as Expandable or comparable manufacturing systems .
• Strong knowledge of production orders, BOMs, inventory, material planning, and manufacturing operations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to analyze production, inventory, and cost data.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, and Finance.
• Ability to step into an existing operation and work independently during a temporary leave assignment.

Strongly Preferred

• Semiconductor, semiconductor-equipment, automation, industrial equipment, or complex manufacturing experience.
• Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, cost rollups, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Experience with ECOs/NPI and prototype production.
• Experience supporting month-end inventory/cost activities.
