Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examination by guiding them to exam rooms and assisting with patient preparation for provider evaluations, treatments, and follow-ups.

Ensure exam and treatment rooms are stocked with supplies and ready for provider use, anticipating their needs for procedures such as minor surgery.

Assist providers during examinations by handling instruments and supplies, and perform routine and specialized procedures such as dressing changes and suture removals following established protocols.

Maintain sterile techniques by sterilizing equipment and disinfecting supplies as required.

Review and match lab results with patient charts, scan records, and update pathology logs efficiently.

Manage electronic medical records (EMR), documenting medications, prescriptions, lab orders, and test results accurately and promptly.

Provide patient education verbally and through written materials, explaining procedures and care instructions clearly.

Communicate with patients regarding test or procedure scheduling, results, and follow-up instructions.

Maintain patient confidentiality, ensuring HIPAA compliance and discretion in discussing sensitive information.

Support administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and managing Ipledge registrations, transfers, and overrides.

Assist with maintaining cleanliness of patient rooms and general office areas, supporting overall clinic operations.

Address patient concerns professionally, ensuring a positive experience and fostering trust within the practice.

Adhere to safety protocols and OSHA regulations, utilizing personal protective equipment and universal precautions at all times.

Required Skills

Minimum of one year of dermatology clinical experience, with knowledge of dermatologic procedures and treatments.

Strong understanding of electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Med Mod EMR.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical procedures and instructions clearly.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Attention to detail in documentation, record-keeping, and maintaining sterile procedures.

Good organizational skills to manage supplies and facilitate smooth patient flow.

Professional demeanor and commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Additional Skills & Requirements

High School Diploma required; Certified Medical Assistant or Associate of Applied Science Degree preferred.

6 months to 1 year of experience involving public contact; prior EMR experience is a plus.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including on-the-job training periods of three to six months.

Familiarity with dermatology terminology, products, and services is advantageous.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Should be comfortable wearing scrubs and maintaining a professional appearance, with a preference for female candidates.
