Accounting SpecialistAPL Main Office - Urbana, IL 61802OverviewSalary Range $20.00 - $22.00 Hourly Position Type Full Time Category AccountingDescriptionAPL Engineered Materials, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting team. This position will support daily accounting operations for our Urbana, Illinois facility by maintaining accurate accounts receivable and accounts payable records, processing financial transactions, and assisting with month-end reporting activities.The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting customers, vendors, and internal teams.ResponsibilitiesAccounts ReceivablePrepare, post, verify, and record customer payments and transactions.Create and submit customer invoices in accordance with company procedures.Maintain and update customer account records.Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collection activities.Research and resolve customer discrepancies and past-due balances.Prepare reports regarding customer account status as needed.Reconcile accounts receivable records on a periodic basis.Generate monthly billing statements.Reconcile revenue accounts.Maintain organized accounts receivable files and documentation.Accounts PayableReview, verify, and process vendor invoices for payment.Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation.Ensure invoices are properly approved and coded in accordance with company policies.Enter invoices and prepare check runs and electronic payments.Audit freight invoices against supporting documentation.Respond to vendor inquiries and assist with payment-related questions.Maintain accurate and organized accounts payable files.Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.Analyze accounts as needed.QualificationsHigh school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.Two years of related accounting experience preferred.Experience with accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processes.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities.ExpectationsMaintain regular and reliable attendance.Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with customers, vendors, and employees.Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.What We OfferStarting pay of $22.00 per hour, based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysOpportunity to work in a small team environment where your contributions have a direct impactAPL Engineered Materials, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.APL Engineered Materials, Inc. does not accept unsolicited resumes or candidate submissions from staffing agencies or recruiters.
