City ManagerThe City of Pasadena is looking for a City Manager who is ready to help write the next chapter of one of California's most distinctive cities.The next City Manager will oversee a full-service municipal organization that operates its own water and power utility and one of only three city-based public health departments in California. The position oversees an annual operating and capital budget of approximately $1.5 billion and a dedicated staff of about 2,200. The City Manager will work in partnership with an experienced City Council and serve an engaged and diverse community of approximately 140,000 residents.In addition to leading the municipal organization, the City Manager will help guide the City-owned Rose Bowl Stadium, the Pasadena Convention Center and Visitors Bureau, and Pasadena Media. The ideal candidate will bring considerable executive leadership experience, strong communication and relationship-building skills, sound fiscal and political judgment, and the ability to think creatively about complex challenges.Learn more about Pasadena at visitpasadena.com and cityofpasadena.net.SALARY AND BENEFITSThe salary range for this position is $380,000 to $425,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The City of Pasadena also offers a competitive benefits package.RETIREMENT: 2.5% @ 55 CalPERS formula for Classic members (employee pays 8%). In addition to the requisite member contribution, employees will contribute 2% of pensionable compensation toward retirement on a pre-tax basis as costsharing under Government Code 20516(f). 2% @ 62 CalPERS formula for new members (employee currently pays 7%). In addition to the requisite member contribution, employees will contribute 2% of pensionable compensation toward retirement on a pre-tax basis as costsharing under Government Code 20516(f).LIFE INSURANCE, SHORT-TERM, AND LONG-TERM DISABILITY PLANS Provided at City expense. HEALTH INSURANCE The City provides an allowance to assist with medical premiums. The 2022 allowance for Employee + 2 coverage is $1,871.43 per month (Employee only = $719.78; Employee + 1 = $1,439.56) and is adjusted annually. DENTAL INSURANCE The City contributes 100% of employee only PPO premium. For employees who cover a dependent, Pasadena contributes an additional $80 per month toward premium. GENEROUS LEAVE PACKAGES Includes vacation, management time off, 11 paid holidays, and sick leave. Option to cash out vacation leave. VEHICLE ALLOWANCE $550 per month with City Council authorization. ELIGIBLE FOR LUMP SUM INCENTIVE BONUS each year at the sole discretion of the Council (no limit). HOUSING & RELOCATION ASSISTANCE Available. Strong preference for candidates willing to relocate to Pasadena. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT EXPENSES Dues, subscriptions, conferences, travel, seminars, etc. CITY PROVIDED CELL PHONE, tablet, other computer support plus monthly expenses for those devices THE CITY ADMINISTRATION OPERATES on a "9/80" schedule, closing on alternate Fridays.
