Ambulatory RN - School Based Health Mount Vernon

Overview This 0.8 FTE role provides safe, high‑quality clinical care in a primary care setting located within a school building. The RN plays a vital role in delivering primary care services directly to infants, children, and adolescents in our NCH School Based Health Centers. The RN collaborates closely with a small, dedicated team consisting of a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and other supportive staff. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, comfort working in a small space, and responsibility for the safe ordering, handling, and transport of clinical items while helping ensure accessible, convenient care for students and families. Pay starts at: $34.82 + based on experience. Job Description Summary Emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention as they assist patients and families to move rapidly, uneventfully, safely, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care. Delegates, oversees and provides quality, safe and developmentally appropriate patient care. Essential Functions Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach. Assesses individualized patient needs and plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence‑Based Practices. Ensures clinic processes and workflows comply with regulatory and policy compliance. Works closely with providers and other team members to ensure a smooth clinic flow addressing patient/parent concerns and attaining positive patient and family outcomes. Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures. Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff. Education Requirement Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited school, required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must successfully complete BSN within 5 years of start date. Licensure Requirement Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio, required. Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, required. Experience Three years of pediatric clinical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred. Physical Requirements Occasionally: Biohazard waste handling, climb stairs/ladder, color vision, driving motor vehicles (work required), electricity, fumes/gases/vapors, lifting/carrying 41‑60 lbs, loud noises, machinery, power tools, pushing/pulling 100 lbs or greater with assistance, pushing/pulling 61‑100 lbs, seeing – far/near. Frequently: Bend/twist, blood and/or bodily fluids, chemicals/medications, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, depth perception, flexing/extending of neck, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, patient equipment, peripheral vision, pushing/pulling 0‑25 lbs, 26‑40 lbs, 41‑60 lbs, reaching above shoulder, sitting, squat/kneel. Continuously: Audible speech, computer skills, decision making, hearing acuity, interpreting data, lifting/carrying 0‑10 lbs, 11‑20 lbs, 21‑40 lbs, problem solving, repetitive hand/arm use, standing, walking.
