Fire Protection Engineer (3-5 years)

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with three to five years of experience who is passionate about their craft, wants to work on a high-functioning team, and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow with a multidiscipline engineering team, and be willing to have fun. You would be providing our clients with automatic suppression system design, fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design, life-safety code analysis, egress analysis, fire resistant construction analysis, smoke control analysis and special inspection as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research. Qualifications Qualifications Include: BS degree in engineering or related science from accredited university Fire Protection Engineering specific degree (preferred) From 3-5 years of professional AEC Consulting experience Passed the fire protection engineering exam required EIT with ability to obtain PE Experience with the current version of AutoCAD and Revit (preferred) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Required Duties and Skills: Attend and participate in local and national professional organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA Perform building and fire code analysis and code interpretations Provide peer reviews of colleagues’ work product Have or be developing an “area of expertise” within fire protection engineering Design new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and communication systems. Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems Interest and ability to advance to a senior engineer or project manager position. Possess basic level computer skills necessary for daily activities including email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and a working knowledge of computer-aided drafting and Revit, (fire dynamic simulation for fire protection engineers). Perform consulting services for internal clients, utilizing Fire Protection engineering concepts. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
