Doubletree Portland is seeking a dedicated and experienced Banquet Captain to oversee and coordinate our event catering services. Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of banquet events including setup service and breakdown

- Lead and motivate banquet staff to ensure high standards of service and professionalism

- Collaborate with event planners and clients to understand event requirements and special requests

- Ensure timely and accurate execution of event timelines and service sequences

- Monitor and maintain cleanliness safety and sanitation standards in banquet areas

- Manage inventory and ensure proper setup of tables linens and equipment

- Address and resolve any issues or guest concerns promptly and professionally

- Assist with training and development of banquet staff to uphold service excellence

Skills and Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Banquet Captain or similar role in hospitality or event management

- Able to lift push and pull 75lbs or more

- Strong leadership and team management skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and handle multiple events simultaneously

- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards

- Attention to detail and organizational skills

- Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as required

- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or related certification preferred

Requirements

Provide guests with the finest quality of service at all times and in a warm and enthusiastic manner.

Continuously monitor the guests service level and comfort at all times.

Have a comprehensive knowledge of all menu items specials beverages wines etc.

Serve all items utilizing appropriate china glassware silverware garnish and condiments.

Immediately relay guest compliments or complaints to management.

Meet with function group leader to determine last minute changes and discuss various setup arrangements.

Ensure proper cleaning of all equipment after function is completed.

Supervise assigned banquet personnel throughout functions.

Assist staff with room set ups food service and clean up when necessary.

Maintain StepStone and hotel standards of food beverage and quality guest service.

Ensure guest satisfaction by delivery of an exceptional product.

Create Bill and deliver to client for review and editing
