This is a locum Interventional Radiology physician position in a general acute care hospital setting , ideal for IR physicians with strong procedural skills and acute care imaging experience . The role includes hospital IR coverage, stroke imaging, ED and ICU studies , with the opportunity to also support outpatient diagnostic and breast procedures .

Key Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Interventional Radiology coverage

• Stroke CTs , ED, ICU, inpatient, and OB imaging

• Perform IR and diagnostic procedures as needed

• Possible outpatient imaging coverage (contrast CT/MRI, breast biopsies)

• Average workload: ~50 studies/day + 4–6 procedures/day

Required & Preferred Procedures

Interventional Procedures:

• Thoracentesis & Paracentesis

• Nephrostomy tube placement

• Chest tubes

• Intra-abdominal abscess drainage

• Suprapubic catheter placement

Biopsies & Diagnostic Procedures:

• Thyroid & lung biopsies

• CT/US-guided biopsies

• Lumbar punctures

• Barium studies

• Various centesis exams with drains

Daily Case Mix (Approximate)

• CT: 12–15

• X-Ray: 15–20

• Ultrasound: 8–12

• IR Procedures: 4–6 (mostly non-complex, percutaneous)

Practice Environment

• EMR: Cerner

• Dedicated radiology nurses and technologists

• Strong off-site radiology group support for overflow and after-hours reads

• Broad exposure to surgical, medical, ICU, and OB cases
