Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor for Immigration Clinic

Position Available: Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor - Immigration Clinic University of Washington School of Law Location: Seattle, WA • Open Date: August 21, 2023 Description The University of Washington School of Law is seeking a dedicated full‑time Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor to join the Immigration Clinic team for the 2023-24 academic year. In this non‑tenure track position, you will have the opportunity to provide critical legal representation to indigent immigrants and refugees while offering students invaluable hands‑on lawyering experience. Our approach extends beyond direct representation, encompassing policy advocacy, community outreach, and educational initiatives. The selected faculty member will play a pivotal role in the clinic, including: Key responsibilities also include Building relationships and pursuing partnerships with community organizations, service providers, and advocacy groups Mentoring law students and expanding the clinic's strategic litigation and advocacy efforts Managing operational and administrative tasks related to case and community projects Supervising clinical students on cases and projects while teaching them a comprehensive range of lawyering skills Ensuring the quality of student work product in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Experiential Education This is a full‑time, 9‑month position running from September through June each academic year, with eligibility for promotion within the teaching‑professorial track. The anticipated start date is September 2024. Compensation The base salary for this position falls within the range of $10,000 – $11,000 per month, dependent on experience and qualifications, or as determined by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Duties All faculty members at the University of Washington engage in teaching, research, and service. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) or foreign equivalent, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant legal practice Admission to a state bar and a minimum of 3 years of Immigration Court experience Demonstrated expertise in advocating for immigrants' rights, with an understanding of its intersections with other areas of law, including criminal law, constitutional law, and administrative law 3 or more years of experience in immigration removal and asylum practiceDemonstrated expertise in clinical teaching #J-18808-Ljbffr Labclinic56
