Associate or Full Professor without tenure - UW Pediatrics and Center for Integrative Brain Research

The Norcliffe Foundation Center for Integrative Brain Research (NFCIBR) at Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI) and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor without tenure due to funding with an anticipated start date of January 2027. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and interdisciplinary team dedicated to advancing knowledge of pediatric neuroscience through cutting-edge, translationally relevant research. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment renewable. Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan. The successful candidate will be expected to: Develop and lead an independent, innovative research program in neuroscience with translational relevance, with a focus on improving outcomes for pediatric neurological disorders. Secure and sustain extramural funding to support research activities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across NFCIBR, SCRI, and affiliated institutions. Participate in the academic missions of NFCIBR, SCRI and the Department of Pediatrics, including teaching and mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty. Aim to translate research findings into clinical applications, ideally fostering a bench-to-bedside approach to improve child health outcomes. Engage in service to the department, center, and institution, contributing to a culture of collaboration, excellence, and inclusivity The Norcliffe Foundation Center for Integrative Brain Research (NFCIBR) is a growing and dynamic center within Seattle Children’s Research Institute, focused on understanding the complexities of brain development, function, and disorders in children. The center employs integrative approaches that span basic, translational, and clinical neuroscience, creating a highly collaborative environment with close ties with clinical research at Seattle Children’s Hospital. NFCIBR faculty are University of Washington employees and there are abundant opportunities for research collaboration with nearby leading research institutions such the Allen Brain and Cell Biology Institutes, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, fostering interdisciplinary partnerships and access to cuttingedge resources. Focus Areas The position has a primary focus on research. Expertise in cutting-edge, translationally relevant methodologies (such as advanced imaging, computational approaches or genomics) is relevant to, but not required for, this position.The successful candidate will align their research program with the mission of SCRI and NFCIBR, addressing pressing challenges in pediatric neuroscience. Educational contributions and service within the Department of Pediatrics are expected and will be tailored to the candidate’s expertise and interests. Administrative Role While the primary focus of this position is research, the successful candidate may be invited to contribute to leadership initiatives within NFCIBR or SCRI, as appropriate, to support the center's strategic goals and foster collaboration across the institution and broader research community Candidates will be considered across a range of interests in pediatric neurosciences and associated research. All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service. The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professor range: $14,167 - $16,667 per month ($170,004 - $200,004 annually), Professor range: $16,667 - $27,084 per month ($200,004 - $325,008 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative duty supplement (ADS).
