Job Description: 5th-8th Grade Social Studies Teacher

Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our middle school faculty, teaching students in grades 5 through 8. The ideal candidate will have a passion for history, geography, civics, and cultural studies, and will be committed to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore the social sciences, develop critical thinking skills, and become informed and active citizens.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans that align with state and national social studies standards for grades 5-8.
• Teach a range of social studies topics, including history, geography, civics, and cultural studies.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Assess and monitor student progress through tests, projects, presentations, and assignments.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student learning and development.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
• Prepare students for standardized tests and assessments in social studies.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-disciplinary content and enhance the overall curriculum.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
• Uphold school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field.
• State teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Social Studies.
• Proven experience teaching social studies at the middle school level, with a strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents/guardians.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
