Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Hanover, MD.Overview:Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to the overall efficiency of the finance team. This position will be responsible for a blend of accounting and operational responsibilities, including transaction processing, account reconciliations, reporting support, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working cross-functionally with internal teams, and taking ownership of assigned processes.Key Responsibilities:

• Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
• Prepare and reconcile account balances and supporting schedules
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Process transactions accurately and timely while ensuring compliance with company policies
• Research and resolve discrepancies or accounting issues
• Assist with financial reporting and audit support activities
• Maintain vendor and customer records as needed
• Support process improvement and automation initiatives
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial information
• Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
• Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.


We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
