Plant Human Resources Manager
Manufacturing / Industrial Environment
A well-established industry leader is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role serves as a strategic business partner to operational leadership, helping drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, labor relations, talent development, and HR strategy execution.
The ideal candidate will bring strong HR generalist/business partner experience within manufacturing, construction, industrial, or related environments, along with demonstrated experience supporting both union and non-union workforces.
This position is located approximately 1 hour south of St. Louis.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership
- Partner closely with operational and functional leaders to support business objectives through effective human capital strategies
- Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, talent development, and organizational effectiveness
- Support leadership in driving employee engagement, culture-building initiatives, and change management efforts
- Assist with organizational restructuring initiatives and workforce planning
Employee & Labor Relations
- Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution
- Support labor relations activities and maintain productive working relationships within a union environment
- Partner with leadership to ensure compliance with labor agreements, company policies, and employment laws
- Work effectively with both union and non-union employee populations
Talent Acquisition & Development
- Support recruiting efforts for exempt and professional-level positions
- Partner with hiring managers on candidate selection, compensation recommendations, and onboarding
- Assist with campus recruiting and workforce development initiatives
- Help identify training and development opportunities aligned with business needs
HR Operations & Compliance
- Support implementation of HR programs, policies, and initiatives
- Partner with HR leadership and shared services teams to improve processes and operational efficiency
- Assist with legal matters, compliance issues, and risk mitigation activities
- Promote and reinforce a strong culture of workplace safety and compliance
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 5–7+ years of progressive HR generalist or HR business partner experience
- Experience supporting employees in a union manufacturing or industrial environment is required
- Strong employee relations and labor relations experience
- Experience within manufacturing, construction, industrial, or related industries preferred
- Proven ability to influence leaders and build strong cross-functional relationships
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with SAP or other HRIS systems preferred
