Plant Human Resources Manager

Manufacturing / Industrial Environment

A well-established industry leader is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role serves as a strategic business partner to operational leadership, helping drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, labor relations, talent development, and HR strategy execution.

The ideal candidate will bring strong HR generalist/business partner experience within manufacturing, construction, industrial, or related environments, along with demonstrated experience supporting both union and non-union workforces.

This position is located approximately 1 hour south of St. Louis.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Partnership

  • Partner closely with operational and functional leaders to support business objectives through effective human capital strategies
  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, talent development, and organizational effectiveness
  • Support leadership in driving employee engagement, culture-building initiatives, and change management efforts
  • Assist with organizational restructuring initiatives and workforce planning

Employee & Labor Relations

  • Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution
  • Support labor relations activities and maintain productive working relationships within a union environment
  • Partner with leadership to ensure compliance with labor agreements, company policies, and employment laws
  • Work effectively with both union and non-union employee populations

Talent Acquisition & Development

  • Support recruiting efforts for exempt and professional-level positions
  • Partner with hiring managers on candidate selection, compensation recommendations, and onboarding
  • Assist with campus recruiting and workforce development initiatives
  • Help identify training and development opportunities aligned with business needs

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Support implementation of HR programs, policies, and initiatives
  • Partner with HR leadership and shared services teams to improve processes and operational efficiency
  • Assist with legal matters, compliance issues, and risk mitigation activities
  • Promote and reinforce a strong culture of workplace safety and compliance

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 5–7+ years of progressive HR generalist or HR business partner experience
  • Experience supporting employees in a union manufacturing or industrial environment is required
  • Strong employee relations and labor relations experience
  • Experience within manufacturing, construction, industrial, or related industries preferred
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and build strong cross-functional relationships

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with SAP or other HRIS systems preferred

Additional Information

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
  • Approximately 10% travel required
