AI Risk Specialist

Responsibilities Deliver risk oversight of AI, including relevant data and model‑related risks. Review, assess and challenge risks, processes and controls against Capital Group’s AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), industry best practice, risk frameworks and regulatory expectations. Work closely with first line partners to implement the AI RMF, providing subject matter expertise and technical guidance to technology / business process and control owners. Independently monitor implementation progress and provide guidance. Exercise flexibility in a constantly changing environment, multi‑task, prioritize, and exhibit strong written and verbal communication, conflict resolution and influencing skills. Act as a trusted risk partner for first‑line leadership, product managers, technology and business process owners, and stakeholders such as Legal and Compliance. Drive cross‑functional collaboration with risk teams (Technology, Security, Operational, and Third‑Party Risk). Develop data risk insights through innovative use of AI capabilities/tools and advocate a data‑led approach to risk management. Proactively identify and communicate risks/gaps, recommend enhancements to strengthen risk posture and regulatory compliance. Prepare risk reporting for governance forums and senior leadership, articulating against risk appetite. Review and challenge relevant first‑line policies, standards, and procedures against regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Required Skills & Knowledge Expert knowledge of risk management frameworks and industry standards (e.g., NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001) and application in a technical environment. Strong technical and applied knowledge of data design and controls; AI data risk governance; security risk management; AI model and system lifecycle; AI failure modes and risk characteristics; responsible AI practices. Familiarity with agentic AI workflows. Experience assessing risks related to model performance, bias, explainability, data quality, third‑party AI and adversarial threats. Demonstrable experience acting as a technical expert and reference for associates and leadership. Technical and operational understanding of global financial services regulations. Bachelor’s degree in AI, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA or other AI‑specific certifications) highly desirable. Compensation & Benefits Southern California Base Salary Range: $159,354–$254,966 NewYork Base Salary Range: $168,924–$270,278 Eligible for an annual performance bonus, company profitability bonus and a retirement plan with Capital contributing 15% of eligible earnings.
