The CNC Service Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs CNC machine tools at customer sites across Southern California. You will be the customer's main hands-on contact after the sale, keeping mills, lathes, and machining centers running and helping shops get the most out of their equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, level, and commission new CNC machines, including power-up, alignment checks, and run-off verification
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-system faults
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to reduce customer downtime
• Check and correct machine geometry using ballbar, laser, and dial indicator methods
• Replace and adjust spindles, ballscrews, way covers, tool changers, and other major components
• Troubleshoot CNC controls, servo drives, PLC logic, and machine parameters
• Train customer operators and maintenance staff on safe operation and basic upkeep
• Document every service call: hours, parts, root cause, and corrective action
• Recommend parts, upgrades, and service agreements when they would help the customer
• Coordinate with the parts department, applications engineers, and manufacturer tech support
• Keep the service vehicle, tools, and parts inventory organized and ready
• Take part in an after-hours or weekend on-call rotation as scheduled

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing or maintaining CNC machine tools
• Solid mechanical aptitude with spindles, ballscrews, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot AC/DC circuits, servo drives, and motors safely
• Working knowledge of G-code and CNC control operation
• Skilled with precision measuring tools: micrometers, indicators, and levels
• Clear communication with customers, from operators to shop owners
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• High school diploma or GED

Preferred qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate in electronics, mechatronics, or industrial maintenance
• Factory service training on major CNC brands or controls (for example Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or Mitsubishi)
• Experience with 5-axis machining centers, multi-tasking lathes, or bar feeders
• Experience with ballbar and laser calibration systems
• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Prior field service experience working independently at customer sites

Physical requirements and work environment

• Work in active machine shops with noise, coolant, oil, and metal chips
• Lift and move up to 50 lb unassisted; heavier items with equipment or help
• Stand, kneel, crawl, and climb for long periods, including inside machine enclosures
• Wear required PPE: safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection
• Follow lockout/tagout and customer site safety rules on every job
