Mechanical Engineering Technician

Location : San Diego, CA
Duration : 12 Months Contract
Total Hours/week : 40.00
1st shift
Description:
The Engineering Technician will perform the following duties:
- Prepares reports and summaries, including quantitative analysis
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Products engineering document, reports, and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams and schematics)
- Help scope equipment for use and complete qualifications
- Assist Engineers as they create, modify, and test products and processes
- Operate and maintain test equipment
- Use typical hand tools to build and set-up equipment using drawings and other documentation
- Use complex measurement equipment to collect and record data
- Execution of designed test protocol and conduct testing
- Works with team to organize lab functions & test equipment
- Notifies manager upon recognition of factors that may affect project
- Effective documentation and communication of test results
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED
- A combination of equivalent education and experience or a minimum of training beyond high school or secondary school in a technical discipline with more than 2 years relevant experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Experience using test equipment such as an Instron for tensile and compression testing
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of electro-mechanical devices
- Proficiency with personal computers
- Experience using MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Ability to understand and perform designed test procedures
- Good organizational skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow directions and effectively execute written and verbal instructions
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- BA or BS
- Ability to train lower level technicians and operators
- Experience working in cross-functional teams
