Police Officer - Lateral

Salary: $83,480.47 - $97,630.80 Shift Schedule: 12 hour patrol shifts, with every other weekend off Sworn: 30 Population: $13,500 Job Summary Police Officers adhere to the Mission & Value Statements, conduct preventive patrol and general policing functions to protect the health, safety and welfare of lives and property within the Village. Officers provide initial response to emergency & non-emergency service requests, traffic enforcement, makes arrests when necessary, investigate complaints, document investigation findings, enforce laws and ordinances, complete reports, community relations and provide a wide range of public service activities. Police Officers are assigned to a specific shift and report directly to their assigned Sergeant. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

- Has two years of experience as a full-time sworn law enforcement officer within the three years preceding the date of application - State of Illinois certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement).
- Must be at least 23 years old.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- No felony convictions.
- No residency requirement.
- Compensatory time, 80 hour cap, carry over year to year.
- Ten (10) holidays and four (4) floating holidays.
- Twelve (12) sick days annually.
- Vacation day
- Five (5) year body armor replacement.
- $775 yearly uniform replacement.
- Medical, dental, vision, life insurance and supplemental insurance.
- Court pay (paid for 3 hour minimum)
- Longevity pay (annually) - after ten years of employment.
- Education pay (annually)
- Tuition reimbursement.
- Oral interviews.
- Provide proof of licenses, certifications and education.
- Background investigation.
- Polygraph, psychological, medical and physical examination.
- Drug and alcohol screening
