Director, Immunology Public Affairs- Dermatology

AbbVie seeks a Director of Immunology Public Affairs for its dermatology portfolio. This strategic leadership role develops and executes integrated public affairs programs, manages stakeholder relationships, and serves as a counselor to senior business leaders. The position reports to the Head of Immunology Public Affairs and supervises one direct report.

Responsibilities

• Drive public affairs programs advancing dermatology portfolio business objectives with competitive differentiation focus
• Analyze communications environment to identify trends, opportunities and risks; translate insights into strategic objectives
• Provide strategic counsel influencing critical decisions through external environment perspective
• Interface with media proactively and reactively as corporate spokesperson on dermatology portfolio news and milestones
• Build and manage relationships with internal spokespeople, patient advocates and external influencers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business, journalism or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years of public relations experience with increasing responsibility
• Proven expertise developing strategic communications programs with measurable business impact
• Strong track record working with traditional and emerging news media on data, milestones and storytelling
• Business acumen to align communications with strategic priorities and frame messaging appropriately
• Scientific acumen to understand complex concepts and translate for diverse audiences
• Ability to navigate matrixed organizations through influence, negotiation and relationship management
