CORRECTIONAL COUNSELOR III

Job Title Correctional Counselor III (C&PR) Responsibilities Under the general supervision of the Correctional Administrator, Business Services, the Correctional Counselor III is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the total institutional classification process. He or she coordinates and manages the Records Office operation; coordinates and reviews the work of the counseling staff; instructs and assists with in‑service training programs; evaluates staff performance and takes or recommends appropriate action. He or she assigns and reviews cases and aids program staff on difficult case problems; serves as a resource consultant to the custodial staff in the Administrative Segregation Unit. He or she monitors the compilation of case records to ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are followed. He or she follows up on specific classification recommendations, develops effective case‑work procedures, and coordinates work with the department and institution, law‑enforcement agencies, interested public and private agencies. He or she coordinates hearings for the Board of Parole Hearings, coordinates releases with the Parole and Community Services Divisions, and works furlough placements. Basic Qualifications Minimum qualifications are detailed in the Class Specification and must be met by all applicants. Salary $10,482.00 – $13,207.00 Location California State Prison – Los Angeles County (LAC), 44750 60th Street West, Lancaster, CA 93536. Work Hours Full‑time, 12‑month limited term. In‑office. Variable shift and variable work week.
