Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services of Florida, Inc. Position Type: Full/Part-Time 28-40 hours a week We serve Pasco, Hernando, and in a more limited scope- Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties Compensation: Commensurate with experience About Us Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services of Florida, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and individuals with speech impairment through advocacy, case management, education, community outreach, and support services. We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven Executive Director to lead our organization, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure long-term organizational sustainability. Position Summary The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for overall leadership, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, program oversight, staff supervision, and community engagement. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors to advance the organization's mission and ensure effective, high-quality services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Leadership & Strategic Planning Provide visionary leadership and implement the organization's mission, vision, and strategic goals. Serve as the primary spokesperson and representative of the organization. Partner with the Board of Directors to establish organizational priorities and long-term strategies. Board Relations & Governance Maintain regular communication with the Board of Directors. Support board recruitment, orientation, and ongoing engagement. Ensure compliance with organizational bylaws, policies, and governance requirements. Program Oversight Oversee the daily operations of all programs and services. Ensure services are accessible, effective, and responsive to community needs. Monitor program outcomes and use data to improve service delivery. Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation, sponsorships, special events, and corporate partnerships. Develop and maintain strong relationships with funders, donors, and community partners. Oversee grant management and reporting requirements. Develop and manage the annual operating budget. Monitor organizational finances, including revenues and expenditures. Ensure sound financial practices, accountability, and accurate financial reporting. Recruit, hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate employees. Coordinate and support volunteers. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-focused workplace culture. Community Outreach & Advocacy Build collaborative relationships with community organizations, government agencies, businesses, and stakeholders. Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, community events, and public forums. Advocate for the rights and needs of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and individuals with speech impairment. Administration & Compliance Oversee organizational policies, procedures, contracts, and documentation. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and nonprofit regulations. Manage organizational risk, insurance, and contractual obligations. Qualifications Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required. Associates required. Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates with significant nonprofit leadership experience, demonstrated fundraising success. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership or management experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization. Demonstrated experience in fundraising, grant writing, budgeting, and financial management. Experience supervising staff and working effectively with a Board of Directors. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong commitment to serving the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind communities. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for meetings, events, and community outreach. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within the Deaf community or a Deaf-serving organization. Knowledge of nonprofit governance and grant compliance. Experience with community advocacy and public speaking. Why Join Our Team?
