Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conduct comprehensive preliminary testing using digital diagnostic tools (autorefraction, non-contact tonometer, lensometry, visual fields and digital retinal imaging).
• Prepare patients for visual eye exams, explaining the hybrid format and setting up high-definition video connections with the offsite technicians.
• Assist the remote technician during the exam by positioning equipment and positioning the patient comfortably in the Doctor’s chair for their remote exam.
• Accurately enter pre-test measurements and visual acuity results into the patient’s chart.
• Sanitize equipment, maintain clean testing lanes, and ensure all video/telehealth technology is running smoothly.
• Proactively verify patient vision insurance benefits to ensure accurate coverage and co-payment information and upload the appropriate insurance documentation and verification into the patient’s file.
• Manage contact lens trial inventory by tracking quantities, maintaining accurate records and ensuring adequate stock levels.  
• Conduct a structured, warm handoff to the Sales Associate upon exam completion, verbally summarizing: Key lifestyle needs and visual complaints discussed during pre-testing (e.g., computer glare, night driving issues, outdoor hobbies) and specific lens features, materials, or coatings recommendations or requested during the workup (e.g. progressives, blue-light filtering, anti-reflective coatings, hi-index materials, transitions). 
• Conduct one-on-one contact lens insertion and removal (I&R) training sessions for new and returning contact lens patients.
• Answer incoming calls, address patient inquiries, schedule/cancel appointments and maintain exceptional phone etiquette.
• Manage patient outreach regarding eyewear and contact lens orders – notifying patients promptly when jobs are ready for pickup and proactively communicating any lab delays.
• Assist on the Sales floor during high-volume periods or as needed, helping patients with frame selections and lens options.
• Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent in reading and speaking in both English and Spanish preferred but not required. 
• Strong comfort level with technology, video conferencing platforms and digital medical devices.
• Prior experience in an optical or medical office is preferred, but we will train candidates with exceptional customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and an approachable demeanor to make patients feel comfortable with virtual care.
• Learns, retains and accurately applies insurance provider requirements, coverage details and processing guidelines.
• Must have flexible availability, including the ability to work Saturdays. 
• Good computer skills including knowledge of MS Office.
