Sr. FP&A Analyst

Role Description

As our key Senior Financial Analyst (FP&A), you will be the primary engine behind our financial planning and operational analysis. This is a high-visibility role in a fast-paced ecommerce environment where the unit economics are complex and the data is plentiful. You won’t just be reporting on what happened last month; you will be building the models that dictate what we do next year. This position will engage cross functionally to influence decision making across multiple departments and disciplines, as well as be responsible for up-leveling and developing the FP&A organization as a whole.

What you’ll do

• Operational Partnership: Act as the dedicated finance partner for department leads and business partners broadly across the organization, imparting financial intelligence to drive cost efficiency gains and manage their spend envelope.
• Process Evolution: Act as the catalyst to mature and grow our FP&A muscle. Identify and implement tools to automate repetitive reporting, moving us toward a more real-time "Continuous Accounting" environment.
• The Backbone: Own, manage, and administer our internal financial reporting, modeling, and forecasting tools which provide the scaffolding over which our financial insights and reporting are communicated.
• The Blueprint: Help facilitate the annual budgeting process and monthly rolling forecasts, ensuring alignment between departmental spend and our long-term strategic goals.
• Financial Intelligence: Dig into our data, analyzing key financial performance indicators (customer profitability, CAC, LTV, retention, etc). Translate, interpret, and communicate the key takeaways behind massive datasets into narratives that tell the story behind the numbers.
• Strategic Modeling: Build complex, dynamic financial models to evaluate new market entries, product launches, and capital allocation strategies.

Qualifications

• At least 4+ years of experience in FP&A, Investment Banking, or Strategic Finance. Experience in Ecommerce or SaaS is a significant plus.
• Technical Prowess: Strong modeling skills and experience with FP&A platforms (Adaptive, Analplan), BI tools (Tableau, Looker) and ERP systems (Netsuite, Sage Intacct).
• The Builder Mindset: Enjoy building models from scratch and refining messy data into clean structures.
• Communication Skills: Ability to explain the "why" behind a budget variance as well as the implications to our financial outlook.
• Systems Architect: Proven track record of owning and administering financial forecasting software (e.g., Adaptive, Vena, Mosaic, or Jirav).
• High Velocity: Thrive in a "high tech" pace where priorities can shift, managing multiple projects without dropping the ball.
• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

Pay Transparency

Salary for this role:

• National: $144,000 - $152,000
• LA: $149,000 - $157,000
• NY: $156,000 - $165,000
• SF: $172,000 - $182,000

The cash compensation above includes base salary, and is not reflective of potential commission for employees in eligible roles, or annual bonus targets under Route’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all Route employees are eligible to participate in Routes equity incentive plan to receive stock options per the terms of the agreement. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their career level, skills, experience, specific geographic location qualifications and other job-related reasons.
