Registered Nurse Medical Surgical

Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients according to medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures Provide nursing services to patients and families within the scope of an RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing Plan, provide, and document nursing care under the supervision of the team leader or charge nurse Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers Assist other healthcare personnel in delivering patient care Maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources Organize and prioritize work and identify resources to complete care in a timely manner Maintain competencies, identify learning needs, and pursue educational offerings Support the development of other staff and formal learners Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist with improvement activities Document assessments, care plans, interventions, evaluations, and patient-status reassessments Assess nursing needs of acutely and chronically ill patients and seek appropriate resources Educate patients and families according to the nursing plan of care Manage relationships with patients, families, visitors, healthcare teams, physicians, administrators, and leadership Collaborate on innovation initiatives involving smart rooms, automated signage, virtual care-team access, predictive fall-prevention tools, ambient listening, and workflow improvements Requirements Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program RNs without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete it within seven years Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in North Carolina Nurses with a multi-state compact license must obtain NC state licensure within the first 90 days of employment BLS Certification Ability to plan, provide, and document professional nursing care using the nursing process Ability to delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers Ability to collaborate with healthcare personnel and multidisciplinary teams Ability to maintain required competencies and pursue professional development Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in planning, providing, and documenting professional nursing care while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
