Registered Nurse - Orthopedics Navigator

Job Title

The Durham Specialty Clinics manages the care for patients with a variety of medical conditions. The Registered Nurse within these clinics includes Urology, Pain, ENT, GYN/Breast, Podiatry, Neurosurgery, POSH Vascular/Plastics, Orthopedics, General Surgery / Cardiac / Thoracic, will function as an ambulatory care nurse in support of the physician or advanced practice provider. The clinic is designed to provide comprehensive primary/specialty care services, including gender specific care to male and female Veterans. Duties will include, but not be limited to, oversight of nursing staff, patient intake, documentation, point of care testing and health screening. The RN will assess, triage, take histories, and document conditions and concerns for Veterans presenting to the clinic and via the telephone. In addition to assessment and triage, the RN will assist with chaperoning of exams and assisting with procedures. The RN is responsible for promoting an environment that supports caring and courteous service, safe patient care, and positive working relationships. The Orthopedic Nurse Navigator facilitates high quality, coordinated care for Veterans undergoing orthopedic procedures and recovery. Serving as a single point of contact, the Navigator guides patients through pre operative preparation, surgical scheduling processes, post operative follow up, and interdisciplinary coordination across settings. The role requires flexibility, dependability, strong communication skills, and the ability to advocate for Veterans with complex orthopedic needs.
