Job Description

1. Perform and oversee maintenance of school facilities including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building systems. 2. Respond promptly to work orders, emergency repairs, and routine service requests. 3. Lead and train facilities team members; assign tasks and monitor completion. 4. Track work orders and maintain maintenance logs. 5. Ensure all systems (lighting, heating, cooling, fire alarms, sprinklers, security) are inspected and in working order. 6. Develop, implement and monitor a preventative maintenance schedule for all buildings, grounds, and equipment. 7. Ensure adequate daily coverage for the cleaning and operation of school facilities by coordinating staff assignments and securing approval from the Director of Facilities, Security, & Transportation or designee. 8. Provide mentorship, safety training and technical guidance to facilities team members 9. Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, state and local codes/regulations. 10. Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals, tools, and equipment. 11. Participate in School Safety Committee. 12. Oversee upkeep of school grounds including landscaping and snow removal. 13. Monitor building security: e.g. alarm calls, broken windows, etc. 14. Support facilities team as needed during absences, large-scale projects, events or emergencies. 15. Communicate effectively with central office administrators, school leadership, teachers and staff regarding facility needs and project updates. 16. Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and/or projects. 17. Other related duties as may be assigned by Director of Facilities, Security & Transportation or designee.

Job Requirements

1. High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree in skilled trades preferred. 2. Technical certification or vocational training in facilities management, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preferred. 3. Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in facility maintenance, with at least two years in a lead or supervisory role. 4. Experience in school or public facility setting preferred. 5. Excellent leadership and team coordination skills. 6. Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and time management skills. 7. Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures and repair techniques. 8. Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems and ability to assist tradesmen as needed. 9. Advanced knowledge of tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment and materials used in general maintenance trades. 10. Valid driver's license; ability to operate maintenance vehicles and equipment. 11. Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and schematics. 12. Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies. 13. Ability to lift, move or carry objects up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, operate power tools and work in varied environments (indoor/outdoor, hot/cold conditions) and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing and standing for long periods. 14. Maintain "Safe School Playground" certification or able to attain within 30 days of hire 15. Successful interview 16. Successful completion of BCI. 17. Successful completion of physical.
