Supervisor, Critical Operations (Swing/Nights)

QTS Data Centers invites you to join an expert team that designs, builds, and operates world‑class data centers. The Supervisor, Critical Operations manages all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and controls maintenance, coordinates recovery and preventive upkeep, and leads a skilled field crew in a 24/7/365 environment. Responsibilities Supervise, train, develop, mentor, and coach Critical Operations Technicians. Establish, implement, and maintain facility policies, procedures, and organizational structure. Develop emergency response plans and perform incident reporting for all critical systems. Lead preventive maintenance on refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, backup, and hot water systems. Oversee work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance and manage parts ordering and budgeting. Facilitate Data Center space and cable plant design, implementation, and maintenance. Ensure incidents and work orders are completed and resolved promptly. Lead emergency responses (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and address customer concerns. Prepare and implement an effective operating budget. Resolve operational problems with subject‑matter experts, develop procedures, and approve major estimates. Maintain safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials. Provide updates and reporting to the Critical Operations Manager and Site Director. Stand in for the Critical Operations Manager as needed. Ensure all Customer Requests are completed and resolved in a timely manner. Basic Qualifications Four or more years of workplace or relevant industry experience. Previous direct or indirect people‑leadership experience. Preferred Qualifications Six or more years of workplace or relevant industry experience. Previous people‑leadership experience in a data center environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent people skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization. Exceptional customer service. Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine problems/faults, and take corrective action. Capability to manage complex situations during off‑shift hours as a single point of contact. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to function effectively in a team environment. Ability to acquire and apply job‑related knowledge within guidelines and expectations. Physical capability to lift 10–50 lbs. regularly, with heavier loads performed with assistance or aids.
