Summary The Assistant 6 Hour, Student Nutrition follows all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Student Nutrition Services (SNS) guidelines. The Assistant 6 Hour, Student Nutrition performs manual work in the preparation, serving and cashiering of federal reimbursable meals and a la carte foods to students and staff, under immediate supervision. Responsibilities Prepares, cooks and serves all food items, including hot and cold items, offering correct portion sizes and menu items, and replenishing the serving line. Takes food temperatures during preparation and serving and records temperatures according to procedure. Follows corrective action procedures if items are not in established safe temperature zones. Sets up a serving line for meals, obtains the correct paper products and utensils, and displays foods attractively. Provides friendly and respectful customer service, acknowledges students by name, thanks customers, keeps the serving area neat and clean, and encourages healthy food choices. Enters meal components correctly, documents emergency meal transactions, handles cash and checks accurately, checks alerts for special diets, and follows end-of-day cash control procedures. Receives and checks in food, checks out food for production, and organizes storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers. Maintains program accountability, including compliance with all federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Records production documents, HACCP, meal accountability and cash procedures, and ensures compliance with district policies and procedures. Ensures serving line cleanliness, proper storage of food, beverages and paper goods, and that equipment is cleaned and shut off. Assists with overall kitchen, dish, and storage area cleanup. Performs any other duties as assigned.
