Summary The site-based Reading Resource Teacher will assist teachers in meeting students’ educational needs. District Expectations Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism Maintain the professional knowledge and skills needed to perform essential duties and responsibilities Responsibilities Assist with the implementation of district initiatives in English Language Arts Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of best practices in writing/language arts instruction across content areas Continuously develop professional expertise through readings, trainings, and conferences Serve as a resource to the school for strategies and materials to increase English Language Arts achievement Assist teachers in implementing the Language Arts Florida Standards Assist teachers in organizing classrooms and instructional focus for English Language Arts instruction Provide professional development opportunities and train teachers on instructional strategies, best practices, use of materials, and specific instructional topics Model effective teaching techniques when presenting to groups and other professionals Support district and site‑based training, including follow‑up Conduct classroom walk‑throughs and provide follow‑up with teachers Create assessments for targeted standards, train and assist teachers in selecting and using assessment instruments, coach on administering assessments and collecting data Assist with the implementation and administration of district tests Confer with teachers to interpret assessment data and plan instruction Provide small group instruction for selected students Assist with English Language Arts competitions and textbook implementation Collaborate with on‑site English Language Arts leaders to provide support for instruction Perform any other duties as assigned Other Competencies Communications: Express ideas verbally and in writing; good listening and comprehension; keep others informed; select and use appropriate communication methods Job Knowledge: Competent in required job skills and knowledge; learns and applies new skills; keeps abreast of current developments; requires minimal supervision; understands how the job relates to others; uses resources effectively Achievement Focus: Sets and achieves challenging goals; demonstrates persistence; overcomes obstacles; measures self against standards of excellence; recognizes and acts on opportunities; takes calculated risks to accomplish goals Project Management: Develops project plans, coordinates projects, communicates changes and progress; completes projects on time and on budget; manages project team activities Planning & Organization: Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; integrates changes smoothly; sets goals and objectives; works in an organized manner Qualifications Three years of increasingly responsible experience in classroom teaching Florida Professional Educator Certificate required Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets documents; writes speeches; presents effectively to managers, the public, and school board Mathematical Skills: Applies advanced math concepts and operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, correlation techniques, and sampling theory Reasoning Ability: Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, draws valid conclusions; interprets technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form; handles abstract and concrete variables Computer Skills: Microsoft Office proficiency Physical Demands Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, hearing Lifting: Up to 10 pounds Reaching: Both dominant and non‑dominant hand; overhead Environmental Conditions: Noise intensity moderate Equal Opportunity Statement School Board Policy ensures equal opportunity for all in its personnel policies and practices and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender preference, political beliefs, social/family background, disability or age.
