Service & Delivery Technician III (Hybrid)

What You Will Be Doing As a Hybrid Service & Delivery Technician III, you will be supporting our retail stores in and around the cities of Oceanside and San Clemente, CA. Your responsibilities include repairing devices such as Self‑Checkout systems, counter scales, check‑stand scales, point‑of‑sale printers, Lexmark printers, iPads, e‑commerce picking devices, and desktops/laptops. You will also assist with deploying new and replacement hardware into the field. In this role you will visit retail stores and backstage facilities to address open IT issues that require on‑site assistance, provide remote support where possible, and participate in projects such as quarterly IT deployments and remodels that require IT components to be updated or re‑installed. The position requires up to 75% travel and may include overnight stays. Main Responsibilities Support standard hardware platforms and systems installed throughout Safeway retail stores and district offices. Repair approved standard technology hardware, including PC/server hardware, network hardware, multi‑function printers, scales, iPads, e‑commerce picking devices, and self‑checkout & point‑of‑sale equipment. Install new hardware and software components such as desktops, iPads, servers, UPS battery backups, printers, scanners, scales, and network equipment. Provide network and remote connectivity support. Meet service level agreement goals while providing customer IT support. Interface with all corporate IT groups for onsite support and technology resolutions. Adhere to repair standards and service levels established. Travel to store locations for installations, including overnight stays when required. Adapt installation schedules to varying deployments, including overnight operations. What We Are Searching For High school graduate; AA/AS/BA/BS degree preferred or 3+ years of technical/training/hardware certifications preferred. 5+ years of technical systems implementation exposure and 2+ years of technical support experience preferred. Preferred: 2+ years of retail business experience, experience with retail store systems and hardware, and installation/configuration of desktop and peripheral technology. Excellent telephone, customer service, and problem‑solving skills for high‑pressure remote locations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to present technical information clearly. Working knowledge of IT hardware, installation models, Windows, MS Office, and related applications. iOS and Android knowledge; self‑checkout experience preferred. Ability to follow written/verbal instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a matrixed organization. Willingness to learn beyond formal training with an aptitude for delivering quality products under minimal supervision. Understanding of hardware/software system inter-relations. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform equipment installs involving twisting and turning. Valid driving record and access to a personal vehicle. Solid mechanical skills. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including day, evening, and overnight in a 24/7 on‑call support capacity. Strong sense of urgency, business ethics, dependability, and follow‑through.
