Associate Director, Data Generalist

Role Description

Our Data Generalist plays a vital role in making this happen by ensuring that high-quality data informs every strategic decision we make—from our research initiatives to our work with school systems across the country.

This is a newly created position with a unique opportunity:

• Help shape how our Research, Data Strategy, and Data Systems teams operate.
• Gain broad exposure to every stage of the data lifecycle.
• Be the critical connector between research, analytics, and operational execution.
• Translate complex data into actionable insights that strengthen our organizational strategy and improve educational outcomes.

Working under the shared leadership of our Research and Data Strategy teams, you'll gain broad exposure to every stage of our research, analytics, and data operations. As you onboard, you'll orient our full portfolio of projects, develop a deep understanding of our organizational strategy, and build fluency in the systems, processes, and partnerships that power data-informed decision making across Leading Educators.

• Create project plans, meeting agendas, documentation, and tracking tools that keep complex, cross-functional initiatives organized, aligned, and moving forward.
• Coordinate work across multiple teams, ensuring priorities remain visible, stakeholders stay connected, and key deliverables are executed with excellence.
• Take increasing ownership of analytical projects, including cleaning, validating, and organizing data.
• Conduct quantitative analyses, build dashboards and reports, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
• Contribute to larger cross-functional initiatives while developing the confidence and expertise to independently lead smaller projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Education Research, Social Sciences, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, research, analytics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects or coordinating multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Proven experience supporting research projects or working with research methodologies.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to varied audiences.
• Ability to travel 1–3 times per year for organizational retreats, programming, and professional development.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.

Requirements

• Expertise in quantitative data analysis and statistical methods, with the ability to clean, organize, and validate datasets from multiple sources.
• Project coordination and management, with proven success juggling multiple concurrent priorities and keeping teams aligned.
• Data visualization and communication, translating technical analyses into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
• Research methodologies and processes, including survey development, literature synthesis, and research logistics.
• Demonstrated proficiency with data management, analysis, and reporting tools, including:
  • SurveyMonkey (or similar survey platforms)
  • Excel
  • SQL
  • R
  • Power BI
  • Tableau
  • Other comparable business intelligence tools for developing dashboards and actionable reports.

Benefits

• Compensation: Base salary range is $87,243 to $111,037 per year. Standard starting salary is $99,140 based on meeting the minimum requirement of 5 years of relevant experience.
• 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees. Additional premium costs are covered 60% by Leading Educators for partners and dependents on medical, dental, and vision plans.
• 4% matching 401k plan, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare and commuter expenses, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Benefits are valued at or above $9,000 for employees.
• Time Off: First three years of employment, full-time staff accrue twenty-two days a year. Five additional days are accrued after the third and sixth year of employment. Leading Educators also offer sixteen additional paid days off for various holidays, including three floating holidays staff may use at their discretion.
