Quality Control Technician

Location: San Antonio, TX 78223

Available Shifts

• 1st Shift: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM

• 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM 12:00 AM

• 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM 7:30 AM

Pay: Starting at $17.00/hour, based on experience

Position Summary

The Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that all products meet established food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager, this position is responsible for conducting quality inspections, monitoring Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), collecting samples for testing, documenting findings, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and product integrity.

Schedule

Candidates must be flexible to work any shift, including weekends, based on production demands.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Assurance & Inspection

• Conduct and document quality control inspections throughout the production process.

• Monitor compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety standards, and personal hygiene requirements.

• Perform routine inspections of production areas and manufacturing processes.

• Review quality records and ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with company standards.

Testing and Sample Collection

• Collect environmental and product samples for microbiological, chemical, and sensory testing.

• Assist with testing programs to verify product quality and food safety requirements are met.

• Perform equipment calibration according to established quality assurance procedures.

Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions

• Identify, investigate, and document quality and food safety non-conformances.

• Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Follow up on corrective action plans to verify effectiveness and compliance.

• Assist with root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Food Safety & Compliance

• Observe manufacturing operations and report food safety or quality concerns.

• Assist with internal and external audit preparation activities.

• Support compliance with food safety regulations, GMPs, sanitation requirements, and company policies.

• Recommend improvements to quality systems, procedures, and processes.

Training & Communication

• Assist in retraining production employees on quality standards, GMP compliance, and food safety requirements when necessary.

• Communicate quality concerns and corrective actions effectively with production and management teams.

• Support a culture of food safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in food manufacturing, food service, restaurant operations, sanitation, or quality assurance.

• Knowledge of food safety systems, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP principles, and quality standards.

• Experience supporting food safety audits and regulatory inspections.

• Familiarity with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.

Education & Experience

• 25 years of experience in a restaurant, food manufacturing, food processing, quality assurance, or sanitation environment preferred.

• Previous exposure to food safety audits, GMPs, HACCP programs, or regulatory compliance standards is highly desirable.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a food manufacturing facility with refrigerated production areas.

• Employees must be comfortable working in cold temperatures throughout the shift.

• Appropriate warm clothing is recommended.
