HR Risk & Leave Administrator

Job Summary

We are seeking an HR Risk & Leave Administrator for an opportunity in Santa Barbara, CA. This role supports critical HR, safety, risk management, workers’ compensation, and leave administration functions while helping maintain a compliant, safe, and well-organized workplace.

The HR Risk & Leave Administrator is ideal for a detail-oriented human resources professional who enjoys balancing employee support, documentation, compliance, and cross-functional communication. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with HR leaders, managers, employees, insurance partners, payroll, benefits, and medical providers in a collaborative environment where confidentiality, service, teamwork, and accuracy are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate employee work injury, vehicle accident, and company equipment accident reporting, documentation, follow-up, and related administrative processes.
- Support accident and incident investigations by gathering information, maintaining records, and helping identify potential causes or safety improvement opportunities.
- Maintain documentation related to workplace safety procedures, risk events, OSHA committee activity, and safety-related programs.
- Administer and track employee leaves of absence, including workers’ compensation, FMLA, CFRA, documentation, timelines, benefits coordination, payroll status, and return-to-work processes.
- Communicate with employees, supervisors, HR leadership, benefits, payroll, medical providers, and external vendors to ensure timely and compliant leave and risk administration.
- Provide additional administrative support to the HR department while maintaining strict confidentiality and a high level of customer service.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $28 to $31 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Coordinate workplace injury, accident, risk, and safety administration processes.
- Manage day-to-day leave of absence tracking, documentation, timelines, and return-to-work coordination.
- Maintain accurate HR, risk, safety, and leave records while supporting compliance requirements.
- Partner with HR, payroll, benefits, supervisors, employees, vendors, and medical providers to support timely communication and resolution.

- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant human resources, leave administration, risk administration, safety administration, or administrative support experience preferred based on role level.
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms and general HR systems administration.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of workers’ compensation, FMLA, CFRA, leave of absence processes, and confidential employee documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, problem-solving ability, and compliance awareness.
- Excellent customer service, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and HR information.

Preferred Qualifications

- At least 2 years of human resources or relevant administrative experience.
- Experience supporting workers’ compensation, leave of absence, safety, risk, or compliance-related HR functions.
- Experience coordinating with insurance carriers, medical providers, payroll, benefits, supervisors, and employees.
- Prior exposure to OSHA committee coordination, safety documentation, or workplace safety programs.
