The unit will also accommodate occasional pediatric medical-surgical overflow patients as capacity allows.The Pediatric PCU cares for chronic pediatric patients, post-operative patients requiring cardiac monitoring, and patients who need more frequent respiratory interventions. Additionally, the unit serves as a key transition area for patients stepping down from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to medical-surgical care, ensuring continuity of care and safety during recovery.Nurse-to-patient ratios are maintained at 3:1, with the flexibility to adjust to 2:1 based on individual patient acuity and care requirements, supporting high-quality, family-centered care and optimal patient outcomes.The Pediatric PCU at AdventHealth for Children is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care in a healing environment, supporting both patients and families through complex and transitional phases of pediatric illness and recovery.Schedule: Full-time, Three (3) 12-hour shiftsShift: Days, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm (with weekend rotation)Location: 601 E Rollins St, Orlando, FL 32803Primary Job Responsibilities:Perform venous access procedures within the scope of RN licensure, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.Administer and monitor infusion therapy treatments, adjusting care plans based on patient responses and needs.Assess patients' conditions to determine appropriate venous access methods and address any complications.Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients requiring venous access and infusion therapy.Provide patient education on venous access and infusion therapy to ensure understanding and compliance.Monitor performance of nursing staff, provide feedback, conduct appraisals, and implement improvement plans to ensure clinical and professional standards are met.Foster professional growth by identifying training needs, organizing educational programs, and mentoring staff to enhance their skills and career progression.Resolve conflicts among staff promptly and effectively using mediation techniques to maintain a positive work environment and ensure team cohesion.Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.Mentor and precept new staff by providing hands-on training, feedback, and fostering professional development.Ensure compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies to maintain high standards of patient services and safety.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to lead the employees of their unit in the delivery of patient careAbility to lead performance improvement initiatives on their assigned unitAbility to think critically in relation to the operations of the unit and delivery of patient careAbility to manage the business of healthcare delivery on their unit, including assessing and managing financial practices/Productivity managementAble to assist and mentor others in relation to the technology utilized on the unitExcellent clinical practice knowledge and is able to apply this knowledge to the unit settingAbility to influence relationships and behaviors in relation to meeting the needs of the unitActs as a role model for professionalism on their assigned unit of employmentPossess a broad nursing knowledge, leadership ability, accepts responsibility, exercises authority, and functions independentlyPossess insight for employee growth and development and the ability to do effective impartial counselingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills, including experience with an Electronic Health RecordSpecific skills as delineated by the unit of employment (see competencies)Specific knowledge and skills as delineated by the unit of employment (see competencies)Education:Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]Work Experience:1+ charge nurse or relevant leadership experience.
