SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIAN - DISTRICT

Substitute Custodian District 2025-2026Dover Public Schools is a progressive, culturally diverse school district in Morris County serving approximately 3,600 students, Pre-K through grade 12. The School District is accepting applications for a District-Wide Substitute Custodian to provide custodial coverage on an as-needed basis across all school buildings. This position supports the daily operations of the district by ensuring facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. The substitute custodian may be assigned to any school and any shift as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Maintain cleanliness of classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areasPerform routine floor care including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot cleaningEmpty trash and recycling containersAssist with building setup and breakdown for school activities and eventsFollow all district safety procedures and proper use of custodial equipment and suppliesReport maintenance, safety, or supply concerns to the Head Custodian or Facilities OfficeProvide assistance during weather-related events and emergency situationsPerform additional duties as assignedQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious custodial or maintenance experience preferred but not requiredAbility to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periodsAbility to work independently and follow instructionsStrong attendance and punctuality requiredMust successfully pass required criminal history and background checksWork Schedule:On-call, as-needed basis Day, evening, and weekend shifts may be requiredCompensation: $22.00 per hour, in accordance with district substitute pay guidelinesApplication Procedure:Applications are ONLY being accepted on-line through Applitrack until the position is filled.
