Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition Knoxville Community Organizer – Part‑Time Temporary Position (end date: December31,2026). Based in Knoxville, TN, reports to the Senior Director of Organizing and Leadership Development. About The Position TIRRC seeks a dedicated organizer to connect individuals from Knoxville’s immigrant and refugee communities to our campaigns and leadership development opportunities. The ideal candidate is an established leader within the immigrant and refugee communities in Knoxville with strong communication and organizing skills. Responsibilities Community Organizing Hold individual and group meetings to deepen relationships, identify leadership opportunities through circles of engagement, and identify key issues affecting the community. Build a base of engaged leaders from diverse immigrant and refugee communities to inform and lead advocacy campaigns. Facilitate the engagement of immigrant and refugee leaders, organizations, and communities in civic engagement efforts and TIRRC’s issue advocacy campaigns. Support mobilization efforts to increase participation of diverse communities in TIRRC events and actions, and support membership growth. Community Education Lead outreach to ensure communities have information about and access to TIRRC services and leadership opportunities. Facilitate community education campaigns and trainings, including Training of Trainers with community leaders to provide accurate, timely policy information. Organizational Support Represent TIRRC at community events, in the media, and with partner organizations as needed. Maintain all data in the organizational database. Qualifications Belief in TIRRC’s mission and experience in social justice. Fluency in English and Spanish required. Ability to work to deadlines, highly organized, work with little supervision, and maintain accountability through strong communication in collaborative projects. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds and build enduring partner relationships. Comfort with public speaking. Experience with community organizing and outreach preferred. Availability for flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and statewide travel. Reliable transportation. Wage and Benefits Hourly rate: $24 per hour for 15–30 hours per week. All employees receive 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Program; part‑time employees receive paid sick time commensurate with hours worked.
