Senior Associate Attorney - Catastrophic Birth Injury Litigation

Position Overview We are seeking a driven, highly skilled, and compassionate Senior Associate Attorney to join our dedicated litigation team. This role is a unique opportunity for rapid career acceleration. You will receive specialized, direct mentorship from lead trial attorney Nelson Tyrone, master complex medical litigation, and quickly transition into a first-chair trial role. Workplace Flexibility & Travel For Atlanta-Based Candidates: A 3/2 hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) is available following a 60-day onboarding and integration period. For Non-Local Candidates: Remote Work with the exception of the following An intensive initial 30–60 day onboarding requiring 3–4 days per week in our Atlanta office (travel accommodations covered by the firm). Ongoing travel to Atlanta 1–2 times per month for collaboration and firm culture integration. Travel as required for out-of-state depositions and trial proceedings. Phase 1: Caseload Integration & Masterclass Training Co-Counsel Support: Serve as second-chair co-counsel alongside lead attorney Nelson Tyrone on an initial sophisticated caseload. Medical Litigation Training: Receive comprehensive, hands-on training in Labor & Delivery (L&D) medicine from Nelson Tyrone and our in-house Legal Nurse Consultants. Advanced Advocacy: Take lead responsibility for key medical expert depositions, including Neuroradiology, Pathology, Rehab/Life Expectancy, Life Care Plan, and Economics. Case Management: Lead litigation on intrapartum and neonatal death cases, including taking all fact and witness depositions with the support of our nurse consultants. Trial Leadership: Upon demonstrating competency in Phase 1, transition to leading your own cases as first-chair counsel, with Nelson Tyrone supporting you as second chair. Collaborative Strategy: Brainstorm and collaborate with our team of attorneys, paralegals, and nurses to develop creative trial themes and look at cases "outside the box". Client & Courtroom Presence: Maintain an accurate, professional, and deeply empathetic presence when guiding clients, conducting discovery, managing motion practice, and commanding the courtroom. Technical Requirements Strong foundational background in civil litigation, discovery practice, motion practice, and deposition strategy. Exceptional legal research, analytical skills, and accurate writing capable of framing complex medical facts simply for a jury. Ability to closely collaborate in a team-based litigation model alongside senior attorneys, paralegals, and medical experts. Meticulous workload management and case organization skills. Base Salary: Our standard base salary ranges from $180,000 to $220,000 (commensurate with experience). However, for exceptional litigators who align perfectly with our mission and team culture, we are fully prepared to match or exceed your verifiably current base earnings. Uncapped Case Bonuses: After your first two years (allowing time for cases to mature), you will earn a percentage of the net attorney fee on every case you work on. This scales based on your role (first or second chair) with an additional percentage added for cases taken to trial, with no ceiling on your earning potential. Discretionary "Bridge" Bonus: To reward your hard work while complex cases mature during your first two years, TLF provides a performance-based year-end bonus. Initial Video Introduction Interview: A casual 30-minute conversation with the Practice Manager and Associate Attorney to discuss the role and your career goals and experience. Deep-Dive Interview (virtual or in person): Technical interview with Nelson Tyrone and Managing Attorney. Team Panel & Shadow Day: Meet the rest of the team in office. May include 1 more round of technical/working interview. Set Up For Success: New hires participate in supportive 30-, 60-, and 90-day performance check-ins.
