Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years in CVICU required License: Registered Nurse Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Education: Associate degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred) - 2 years of experience in CVICU required Description: This position requires working three 12-hour night shifts. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required. Skills required include: - Arterial line management - Assistance with chest tube insertion/removal - BiPAP/CPAP management - Blood product administration - Care of the patient on ECMO - Care of ventilated patients - Central line care and management - Chronic/acute renal failure management - Continuous IV sedation - Management of coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG) - Stroke management - CRRT and CVVHD management - Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Management of dysrhythmias - Ventilator management - Care of patients with ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD) The unit provides interdisciplinary support from various teams including physical therapy and respiratory services. Patient demographics include adults primarily recovering from cardiothoracic procedures. The unit requires knowledge of managing patients with extensive comorbidities and complications. Travel experience is preferred for applicants. Mandatory floatation to other units may occur based on census. This position involves direct patient care and participation in interdisciplinary team activities.
