Job Description
This role focuses on building custom crates, packaging and kitting products, and supporting shipping operations in a manufacturing environment. You will use hand tools, power tools, and basic computer systems to prepare and ship orders, while also interacting with customers and assisting with shop operations.
Responsibilities

• Build wooden crates and related packaging using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or construction-style environment.
• Perform packaging and kitting tasks to prepare products for shipment according to specifications and quality standards.
• Use a computer to enter shipping information, create shipping documents, and support basic shipping and receiving processes.
• Operate and eventually become proficient with a band saw to cut and prepare materials for crate construction.
• Handle the majority of day-to-day shop work, including assembly, packaging, and general production tasks, especially when supervisors or managers are off-site.
• Work directly with customers as needed, providing courteous assistance and ensuring their orders are handled accurately and on time.
• Support safe operation of machinery and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and other shop tools.
• Assist with forklift operation if qualified, to move materials and finished products within the facility.
• After permanent hire, train to drive a box truck and assist with runs to other facilities as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Collaborate with a small team to meet production schedules and support steady order flow.

Essential Skills

• Experience working with hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or construction environment.
• Previous work experience in a manufacturing or construction setting, including use of tools and machinery.
• Ability to use a computer for shipping purposes, such as entering data and generating shipping documents.
• Experience with packaging and kitting tasks or strong aptitude to learn these processes.
• Comfort working with wood products and performing repetitive hands-on tasks.
• Capability to operate machinery and equipment safely, including potential forklift operation.
• Strong reliability and willingness to take ownership of the majority of shop work when needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction or manufacturing using hand tools, operating machinery, and forklift operation.
• Prior packaging, kitting, or assembly experience in a production or warehouse setting.
• Experience working directly with customers in a service or production environment.
• Interest in growing into a lead-type role as the shop expands.
• Willingness to train on and operate a band saw after initial onboarding.
• Openness to training to drive a box truck and assist with deliveries between facilities after permanent hire.

Work Environment
This is a 1st shift role, typically scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in a new manufacturing facility focused on wood products and crate building. The position starts as a contract with the potential for hire, depending on order volume and long-term shop needs, and may evolve into a lead-style role as the operation grows. You will work in a hands-on production environment using hand tools, power tools, a band saw, and other machinery, and may operate a forklift and, after training and permanent hire, a box truck for runs between facilities. The crew is small, so you will handle a wide variety of tasks and may run much of the shop's daily activity when supervisors are traveling. The setting is typical of a light industrial or manufacturing shop, with standard safety procedures and attire appropriate for working with wood, tools, and machinery.

This is a Contract position based out of Camp Hill, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
