Custodian PositionThe Custodian, as part of a shift team, is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of Community Bible Church facilities and exterior grounds. This role includes performing a variety of tasks that support and prepare for services and events. Work assignments are delegated by the Head Custodian designated for the shift, though occasional requests may come from individuals conducting events or classes within the church facilities.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Cleaning, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, shampooing & steam cleaning carpets, and trash removal in all facilities of the church (to include halls, classrooms, sanctuary, gym, kitchen, restrooms, and concession areas)Set up rooms for meetings and events (setting up and tearing down furniture arrangements for various functions scheduled in church facilities and classrooms)Strip, seal, finish, and polish floorsService, clean, and supply restroomsGather and empty trashClean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming themFollow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixturesClean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegeesMix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specificationsClean and polish furniture and fixturesDust furniture, walls, machines, and equipmentMaintain organization and cleanliness of supply closetsNotify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systemsRequisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance dutiesOther duties, as assigned by Head Custodian or Custodial SupervisorsCompetenciesPossess strong communication skills in the English language (verbal and writing)Ability to maintain professional relationshipsAbility to follow instructions from senior leadersKnowledge of general custodial, cleanliness, and sanitation processesAbility to use hand tools and power toolsAbility to prioritize work, meet deadlines, work independently, multitask, and produce results in a high-stress environmentComply with standard departmental proceduresResponsible for communicating in a professional, polite, and courteous manner to all staff, members, and guests of the churchHighest level of personal integrity with an uncompromised commitment to the maintenance of the confidentiality and privacy of all personal and church matters, data, and informationPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorkOvernight, Wednesday-Sunday from 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in a service-oriented environment.
