Our postpartum/nursery unit has 11 rooms with a 1:6 (3 couplets) patient ratio. Our nurses in this department care for postpartum moms, newborns, post op GYN patients, and occasional antepartum patients (such as hyperemesis or pyelonephritis). Additionally, these nurses attend deliveries, provide 1:1 care for infants requiring additional support and prepare infants for transfer when a higher level of care is required.

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

The right person who will provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Applicants should have a current RN VA or compact state license and possess an associate's degree in nursing. Additional requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support
• Experience in acute care hospital, preferred
• American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire
• S.T.A.B.L.E preferred

Hourly range: $33.19 - $44.11
