Academic Department Coordinator - Mathematics andStatistics Allendale, MI Full Time R104787 Summary The Departments of Mathematics and Statistics(50/50) seek an Academic Department Coordinator to join ourcollegial staff and to contribute to our positive officeenvironment and departmental mission. This Academic DepartmentCoordinator position is split between the two departments, spendinghalf of the workday in each. The Academic Department Coordinator is responsible for thecoordination and quality of the administrative work for thedepartment. This position requires discretion and astudent-centered and human service focus. The successfulcandidate should have the ability to perform the primary dutieslisted below, however, due to the split nature of this position,not all the primary duties will be required. Salary/Benefits C3 Level. Minimum starting salary of$20.49/hour + comprehensive benefitspackage including medical, vision, dental, life insurance,generous employer retirement contributions, wellness resources andtuition waiver effective on date of hire. Primary Duties Compile and logically format statistical data, spreadsheets,and reports to facilitate department decision making related todepartment budget and scheduling. Monitor the department budgets and provide timely reports tothe unit head. Prioritize tasks to manage and coordinate a large and variedworkload, including student workers. Disseminate information that may require explanation andinterpretation of established university and departmental policiesand procedures, and direct individuals to sources of additionalinformation. Provide support to faculty, including office space, keys, nameplates, and computer access. Provide support with bulk mailings, answering phones, maintainfiling, and recordkeeping systems. Serve as student employee supervisor and may act as lead workerfor other PSS. Coordinate with the unit head and assistant unit head todevelop the academic schedule. Coordinate scheduling tasks and support services associatedwith preparing arrangements for major meetings, events,conferences, exhibits, travel, or other related duties for bothinternal and external contacts. Provide administrative support for the personnelprocesses. Coordinate/monitor grade processing. Maintain syllabi records for department. Maintain and order supplies for the department. At times, act as a liaison between unit head, Dean's Office,faculty, staff, students, and outside organizations. Collaborate across and provide backup support to other CLASunits as needed. Other related duties or special projects as assigned. Non-Essential Functions Textbook orders for faculty. Process major declarations and assign faculty advisors. Coordinate completion of course override requests. Maintain department social media accounts. Perform routine web-site maintenance. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum of three years of relevant work experience. Experience with various computer software applications such asMicrosoft Office and/or equivalent. Demonstrated experience to successfully operate officeequipment. Data entry experience. Typing and spelling competency with grammar and proofreadingskills. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience to successfully provide qualitycustomer service. Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently,organize own work, and coordinate work activities of others. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactorywork performance and attendance records. Ability to successfully maintain positive intercultural andinterpersonal relationships. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Some college course work. Supervisory experience preferred. Accounting or budget experience. Some experience in an academic environment.
