Temporary Human Resources Support

The Coast Community College District Human Resources department is looking for temporary, short-term support for both Human Resources Generalist and Human Resources Generalist Senior positions. The assignment includes but is not limited to employee onboarding and offboarding, employment services transactions, and personnel records maintenance. This role requires a high level of organization and ability to manage scheduling onboarding appointments along with timely data entry. These assignments are anticipated to begin immediately, 19 hours per week for 6 months. Mainly onsite at 1370 Adams Ave. Costa Mesa CA. This is an at-will temporary non-classified position. Sick leave is available.

Qualifications and Physical Demands

Minimum qualifications: Education and experience typically required in an equivalent human resources function. Knowledge and skills required will vary depending on the nature of the assignment. Abilities required will vary depending on the nature of the assignment. Physical abilities required will vary depending on the nature of the assignment. May require a valid driver license. Work is performed indoors and at times outdoors where some exposure exists to communicable diseases.

Conditions of Employment

Non-academic, non-classified substitute: vacancy employees are appointed temporarily when recruiting to fill a permanent position. Non-academic, non-classified substitute: no vacancy employees replace classified employees who are temporarily absent from duty. Substitute non classified employees are not part of classified service. Substitute non classified employees are at-will employees, have no entitlement rights to any position in the District. Substitute employment shall not result in the displacement of Classified personnel. Substitute non classified employees who are appointed temporarily while the District is recruiting for the permanent position may not exceed 130 working days within a fiscal year (July 1 June 30). Substitute non classified employees who are temporarily replacing a classified employee may not exceed 160 working days within a fiscal year (July 1 June 30). Retired CalPERS Annuitants: may not exceed 960 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). Employment is contingent upon verification of employment history, background verification as governed under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. Short term/temporary assignments do not offer fringe benefits or pay for holidays or time not worked. The hours of work and effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor. These are typically onsite. Typical hours are 8 am 5 pm Monday through Friday. These assignments are anticipated to begin in August and/or September and may last through December. Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment. The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in Coast Community College District policies, procedures, and Title IX.
