UTILITY LOCATE TECHNICIAN

Job Title Utility Locate Technician Location 11575 Maxwell Road, Alpharetta, GA. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred. Two years of experience locating underground utilities, working outdoors in all weather conditions and confined spaces. Valid Georgia driver's license. Other Qualifications Proficiency in operating electronic locating equipment, GIS, and GPS. Ability to read and interpret locate tickets and coordinate with crews. Strong customer service and problem‑solving skills. Veterans’ Preference Qualified veterans receive guaranteed invitation to interview and preferential hiring for the initial appointment. Essential Functions Locate water and sewer mains, services, and appurtenances using electronic equipment and GIS/GPS data. Assist the Engineering Division with GIS and GPS data acquisition. Access the Utility Protection Center to obtain locate tickets. Assist utility crews in controlling traffic, repairing, and flushing water distribution systems. Read and interpret locate tickets to determine location areas for underground utilities. Complete locate request paperwork as required. Additional Functions Perform other related duties as required. Human Interaction: Provide guidance and interpretation to others regarding procedures and standards. Equipment Utilization: Operate, maneuver, and control equipment, machinery, and tools. Verbal Aptitude: Utilize reference and advisory data effectively. Mathematical Aptitude: Perform arithmetic calculations, including percentages and ratios. Functional Reasoning: Carry out instructions in written or oral forms. Situational Reasoning: Exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in evaluating information.
